Orleans First Annual Christmas On The Square Hat Walk

(ORLEANS) - The First Annual Christmas on the Square Hat Walk, sponsored by the Orleans Public Library is December 9th.

The event is open to all ages.

Each participant must wear a hat of original designs with a Christmas theme - either purchased, borrowed or designed. And each hat must be appropriate for all ages.

To enter participants must line up in front of the gazebo stage at 6 p.m. and then begin walking north following the square's perimeter sidewalk back to the gazebo. Those who are unable to walk will remain at the Gazebo for judging.

Four judges will be observing at various spots along the parade route.

Upon arrival back at the Gazebo, the judges will take a final look at the contestants and a winner will be announced. The judges' decisions are final.

Hat Categories:

Teen & Adult, ages 13 to infinity - Most Original, Most Glamorous
Kids, birth to age 12 - Most Original, Funniest

Prizes:

Adult Winners: $20 cash, Christmas book
Kids Winners: $10 cash, Christmas book, choice of toy from the treasure chest

All participants will receive a $5 gift certificate to the Orleans Public Library. Certificates may be used to pay fines, copy and fax costs at the library.
