(BEDFORD) - The Men's Warming Shelter will open at 5 p.m. on January 3rd and will remain open until the end of March depending on weather conditions.

Father Rick Eldred, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church says thanks to Johnny Signs new signage has been installed to easily identify the temporary shelter located in the old Salvation Army building, at 1629 K St.

This will be the fifth year for the shelter to be open - which offers a warm meal, shower, laundry service and a warm bed for those that are homeless.

Volunteers will offer counseling and help patrons find services and/or jobs.

The shelter is run by the Bedford and Mitchell ministerial associations.

Donations are always needed. Donations can be made at Bedford Federal Savings Bank in care of the Men's Warming Shelter.

Volunteers are also needed from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. with midnight to 8 a.m., which Father Rick says are hardest hours to staff.

To volunteer, call Greg Stanley at (812) 583-5828. After the shelter opens in January, call (812) 675-6361.
