Garrison, Pinney Named 2018 Lilly Scholars

(UNDATED) - McKenna Garrison, a senior at Bedford North Lawrence High School was named the Lawrence County Community Foundation's 2018 Lilly Endowment Community Scholar.

Jacob Pinney, a senior at Orleans High School, was named the 2018 Orange County Community Foundation's 2018 Lilly Endowment Community Scholar.

As Lilly Scholars, both will receive a four-year, full-tuition scholarship to the Indiana college of their choice and a $900 yearly stipend for required books and equipment.

Garrison, the daughter of Amy Jeffries and Rusty Garrison, was also named Lawrence County's Distinguished Young. She plans to attend Purdue University to study nursing to work in missions.

Jacob is the son of Alan and Melissa Pinney, he also plans to attend Purdue University to study computer science.

Garrison is a BNL varsity cheerleader and member of the National Honor Society, IMPACT and Beta Clubs.

Pinney is a drum major of the Orleans Bulldog Regiment, a team captain and member of the science and math squads for the Academic Team, and the vice president of National Honor Society. He helped found and is president of the Orleans High School Robotics Team - Orbotz. Pinney serves as vice president of the Orange County Community Foundation Youth Council and was named an Indiana Academic All-Star by the Indiana Association of School Principals.
