(HUNTINGBURG) - A Huntingburg man was arrested after he threatened to harm a female with a knife.

On Christmas Day, Huntingburg police were called to a home at 416 North Washington Street after a report of a man making threats with a knife.

When police arrived they learned that 21-year-old Edwin Hernandez had grabbed a female while armed with a knife and then attempted to strangle her. He also threatened another female at the home while armed with the knife.

Police say Hernandez was intoxicated and uncooperative fighting with police officers. While being transported to the Dubois County Security Center he kicked the transporting officer from between the seats and then had to be further restrained.

Hernandez is facing charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon, battery with a deadly weapon, strangulation, battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
