Historic Paoli Bridge To Be Dedicated In Honor Of Two Paoli Men

Last updated on Thursday, December 28, 2017

(PAOLI) - The historic Gospel Street Bridge in Paoli will reopen to traffic Jan. 3.

Officials will dedicate the bridge in honor of Paoli merchant Sol Strauss and longtime Paoli attorney James M. Tucker.

The structure partially fell into Lick Creek on Christmas Day 2015 when the driver of a semitrailer weighing six times the posted limit attempted to cross it. The top of the trailer folded as it hit the superstructure causing the 1850 bridge to collapse.

Orange County Commissioners are hosting the dedication ceremony which will begin at 11 a.m.

The public is invited to attend and refreshments will be provided by Lost River Market and Deli.
