(BLOOMINGTON) - Centerstone, one of the nation's largest nonprofit providers of behavioral healthcare, has been awarded a grant from the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction to expand addiction residential detoxification and treatment services among adult men and women with opioid use disorders, including pregnant women and women with children, in 11 Indiana counties.

Details of the expansion include increasing the numbers of residential treatment beds, expanding treatment space, and increasing staff. The expansion also includes provisions for children (ages 5 and under) to reside onsite with their mothers in the Monroe County location. Indiana counties included in the expansion are Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Fayette, Jackson, Jennings, Lawrence, Monroe, Scott, Union, and Wayne.

"As the opioid epidemic continues to grow across our state, substance use disorder services must, too," said Linda Grove-Paul, Vice President of Adult and Family Services at Centerstone Indiana. "This new funding allows Centerstone to increase the number of people we can reach as we seek to ensure people have the services and support they need to combat opioid addiction and begin the path to recovery. We are thankful for these additional resources to address this national public health emergency in the communities we serve."

As part of the grant, residential treatment will be expanded at three Centerstone locations in Monroe, Scott, and Wayne counties. Monroe County will offer a three-month, transitional residential program, and Scott and Wayne counties will offer an up to one month residential program for individuals who are clinically appropriate.

This expansion of residential addiction treatment includes culturally competent, trauma-informed, evidence-based psychosocial treatment, screenings/assessments, individualized care plans, case management, counseling, and referrals to a coordinated support network. The project expansions will go into effect at the beginning of the new calendar year.
