(PAOLI) - Human trafficking is the fastest-growing and second-largest criminal enterprise in the world, generating an estimated $150 billion annually. The toll it takes on its victims lasts a lifetime, especially when those victims are children.

The Indiana Youth Institute and IU Health Paoli are teaming up to host a free training session to help educators, parents, youth ministers and other youth-serving professionals better understand how to identify human trafficking and the traumatic impact it has on young people. The seminar will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 9 at Super Burger, 600 West Main Street in Paoli.

Morgan Rumple with the Indiana Youth Services Association's Indiana Trafficking Victim Assistance Program will provide information about human trafficking and exploitation as it relates to youth. She will discuss what human trafficking is, how widespread the issue is, how to recognize potential traffickers, what factors put youth at risk of victimization, how to identify victims and what intervention and support services are available.

As part of IYI's Youth Worker Café program, the forum and lunch are free, but reservations are required. RSVP at www.iyi.org/calendar. If you have trouble with the link, please contact IYI Statewide Outreach Manager Debbie Jones via email at djones@iyi.org. For more information on the event, attendees may contact IYI's Southwest Outreach Manager Joe Shrode via email at jshrode@iyi.org.

Youth Worker Cafés are designed to bring together local youth workers to build relationships and inspire collaborations that will benefit children.
