State Road 235 Closed At Medora Saturday For Annual Christmas Parade

(MEDORA) - The Indiana Department of Transportation has issued a permit to the Town of Medora to close State Road 235 this Saturday for their 45th annual Medora Christmas Festival and parade.

Between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., State Road 235 will stage the holiday parade between County Road 275 and Washington Street.

Participants will line up on State Road 235 north of town and advance along Perry Street through Medora - moving west on County Road 275, south of Jackson Street, east on Riley and back to State Road 235 on Perry Street.

Motorists will be routed around the event via County Road 275 South, Jackson Street, Riley Street, David Street, Second Street and Mill Street.

On Friday, people can gather for the annual tree lighting ceremony for the community's Christmas tree at the Medora branch of the Jackson County Public Library. Medora Christian Church and Medora Methodist Church members will be there to sing, and hot chocolate and popcorn will be available.

The tree lighting ceremony also will feature the winners of the Christmas light contest for Carr Township residents

Saturday's Christmas Festival events will include Breakfast With Santa, Selfies With Santa, Cookies with Mrs. Claus.

The Medora Conservation Club will have fish and tenderloins for sale, and the festival features a number of other food and craft vendors that will be open for business by 9 a.m.

The festival will come to a close when everyone can gather at the Christmas ball at the Carr Township Conservation Club.

This year's ball will feature disc jockey Josh Clark from 8 p.m. to midnight.

The ball also features an ugly sweater contest and silent auction items that include an autographed football from the Indianapolis Colts, NASCAR qualifying tickets and other items.
