(GREENE CO.) - A Springville man was arrested after he allegedly hurt a woman and child at his home on Nov. 5.

Indiana State Police arrested 35-year-old Jesse Kortea on two counts of domestic battery.

Police were called to Kortea's home on Nov. 5th after a report of a domestic disturbance.

Kortea is facing charges after allegedly battering a woman and child in his residence.

According to State Police Master Trooper John Yung, when he arrived he found the victim and several children standing next to a vehicle with its hood open.

The female victim told Trooper Yung that Kortea had struck her.

The trooper noted the victim had pain and swelling and red marks on the left side of her head behind and above her left ear. She also suffered lower back pain from being shoved. The trooper also noted the female had a cut on her left thumb where Koreta allegedly threw a broken mirror at her.

One of the juveniles told Trooper Yung that Kortea grabbed them by his right arm and his face, leaving a grease print.

The trooper alleges Kortea then removed a spark plug and spark plug wires from the vehicle disabling it, preventing the female and children from leaving the home.

Kortea told police he and the female got into an argument while in the front room of the mobile home. Koreta did say he grabbed the juvenile by the arm to prevent the child from running into heaters in the front room. The juvenile had run into the room while the couple were yelling.

He did admit throwing the mirror, but denied hitting the woman with it. He did say he shoved the female, but only in defense of her hitting him with some type of rope lights.

Kortea denied going outside and disabling the vehicle and then requested an attorney before answering any more questions.

Kortea pleaded not guilty during an initial hearing on Nov. 7th and is scheduled for a pretrial conference on Dec. 18th.
