
(BEDFORD) - A Springville man and Bedford teen were arrested early Tuesday morning after police stopped them in a stolen vehicle.
Police arrested 18-year-old Logan Furnace on charges of auto theft, operating a vehicle while never licensed, possession of a legend drug and marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Furnace had a 16-year-old male passenger with him in the vehicle. That juvenile was arrested on charges of criminal mischief, attempting to obtain a legend drug, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley officer were called at 1:53 a.m. Tuesday morning that a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox had been stolen from a home in the 2000 block of I Street.
"The owner told officer that Mr. Furnace and the teen both had been at the home prior to the vehicle being stolen," Chief Parsley added.
The On Star service alerted police that the vehicle was in the southern portion of Lawrence County near the Monroe County line.
Police in Monroe County and Lawrence County police and Indiana State troopers were alerted.
"The On Star service kept dispatchers alerted to where the vehicle was," Chief Parsley added. "Monroe County deputies located it on State Road 37 entering Lawrence County and followed the vehicle."
An Indiana State Police trooper and Lawrence County deputy soon arrived and all three stopped the vehicle at Needmore School.
Both Furnace and the teen were arrested without incident.
"On the back seat police found Atomoxetine pills (Strattera), marijuana and drug paraphernalia," Chief Parsley added. "Mr Furnace was jailed and probation was called and the teen was transported to the Jackson County Juvenile Detection Center."
