(SALEM) - The Washington County Board of Commissioners have appointed Rick Voyles as the county’s new highway department superintendent.
Voyles, who is currently the department's District 1 Road Foreman, will accept his new appointment Friday, December 1.
The Salem Leader reports, the county highway supervisor position was eliminated by a commissioners' vote in January 2016 saying it would lead to a more efficient department and reap cost savings for the county.
When county officials approved the 2018 budget earlier this year, the superintendent's position was restored.
