(BEDFORD) - Rennie Fish was awarded the first ever Baker-Wildman Award from the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence County for his honesty and advocacy work for the kids.

Chief Professional Officer, Brigitte Gurden spoke about how much Fish means to the club, "Invaluable. You know how you always see those Master Card commercials where it says priceless- he's priceless. Priceless to me."

"Surprised yeah and thankful, but there's a lot of people that do a lot of stuff. I'm not by myself. I kind of think that a lot of people may be more deserving than me. It means a lot because I knew Shirley Wildman and Bill Baker for a lot of years and I was pretty close to Bill. It means a lot in that regard, yes." said Fish.

Fish has been involved with the club for just about 50 years- including his time there as a kid. After college he was asked to come back to coach football and referee. Currently, he is a member on the board for the Boys and Girls Club, but you can also find him tinkering and fixing things at the club, coaching and refereeing games and working out at Wylie Youth Park.

The award is the first of its kind. It honors the legacies of Bill Baker and Shirley Wildman. Baker was a Boys Club Director that worked with many kids and is well known in the club.

"Bill Baker... everyone knows about Bill Baker and his legacy of the Boys Club- caring about kids, always telling kids the hard truth. You know every one that went through the boys club has a story about Bill Baker," said Gurden.

The Girls Club was founded by Director Shirley Wildman.

"She was known to be strong and out spoken and an advocate for young girls," Gurden said.

Fish has proven himself to continue the legacies of Baker and Wildman through his commitment to the club.
