Lawrence County Employment Rate Improving

Last updated on Wednesday, November 22, 2017

(UNDATED) - Lawrence County’s employment rate is improving; the rate dropped from 4.3 percent in September to 4.0 percent in October.

The best county in the state is LaGrange with a joblessness rate of 2.4 percent for October. The worse Vermillion County with a rate of 5.1 percent

Private employment increased by 2,500 over the previous month in Indiana, thanks to gains in the financial activities, trade, transportation and utilities sectors. Those gains, however, were mitigated by losses in the construction and professional and business services sectors.

Still, total private employment in Indiana stands at around 2,691,600. That is about 14,700 above the November 2016 peak.

Vermillion County ended October 2017 as the worst county in the state for unemployment, with a rate of 5.1 percent. The best of the 92 counties in the state, LaGrange County, scored a joblessness rate of 2.4 percent in October
