Hogs Killed After Trailer Rolls At Huntingburg Livestock Market

Last updated on Monday, November 6, 2017

(HUNTINGBURG) - The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says about 10 to 12 hogs were killed on Thursday morning when the trailer they were in rolled over at a livestock market east of Huntingburg.

A majority of the hogs on the loader trailer survived, as a result of the 7:26 a.m. accident at the Wilson Hog Market, at 1405 E. Sixth St.

According to Dubois County Sheriff's report, 53-year-old Leonard Gogel, of Birdseye, was traveling west on State Road 64 in a 2008 Kenworth when he attempted to turn north off of the highway into the hog market's drive.

The semi tractor turned but, as its trailer rolled off a gravel area and into some grass, the trailer turned over onto its side.

Gogel was not injured.

Indiana State Police and Huntingburg Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
