(BLOOMINGTON) - Firefighters with Northern Monroe Fire Territory say a pile of burning leaves got out of control and damaged a tractor and garage Saturday afternoon in the 4700 block of North Brummetts Creek Road.

Firefighters from both Northern Monroe Fire Territory and Benton Township were called to the blaze at 1:59 p.m. after a report of a tractor on fire next to a garage.

When firefighters arrived, smoke and flames were coming through the roof of a large garage. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to half the building, but with smoke damage throughout the rest of the garage. Firefighters also had to extinguish approximately an acre and a half of brush fire as well.

Firefighters say no one was injured and no one was inside of the garage at the time of the fire.

Firefighters were on the scene until 7 p.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were firefighters with Ellettsville and Perry Clear Creek fire departments.
