(BLOOMINGTON) - During the holiday season, Bloomington Transit will partner with WCLS 97.7 Classic Hits and the Salvation Army by filling a Bloomington Transit Bus with unwrapped donations of new toys and unused children’s coats and outerwear.
Donations collected through Stuff-a-Bus will be distributed to Monroe County families that have requested assistance through the Salvation Army.
Bloomington Transit will open the 17th annual gift collection by unveiling the festively decorated Stuff-A-Bus on Wednesday, November 29, at WCLS 97.7 Classic Hits (2723 N. Walnut). The decorated Stuff-A-Bus then will visit a number of shopping centers and retail locations throughout Bloomington from November 29 through December 10.
Stuff-A-Bus is made possible by the volunteers who staff the bus and accept donations. Bloomington Transit is currently seeking volunteers to help staff the bus for collection dates (included below). Without volunteers, Stuff-a-Bus would not be possible. Individuals interested in volunteering, and businesses interested in hosting a drop-off location, should call Brenda Underwood at 812-961-0523.
Last year, Bloomington Transit collected over 3,500 new toys, coats, and outerwear for families in need. To make a donation, new, unwrapped toys and outerwear can be dropped off as per the schedule below. Donations may also be dropped off at Bloomington Transit's main office (130 W. Grimes) or WCLS 97.7 Classic Hits (2723 N. Walnut).
