Last updated on Monday, November 6, 2017

(BLOOMFIELD) - A Bloomfield man was arrested after Indiana State Police found him in possession of nearly 20 pounds of marijuana.

Troopers arrested 49-year-old Clay Carroll on charged of dealing marijuana, four counts of possession of a controlled substance and maintaining a common nuisance. He was transported to the Greene County Jail where he is being held without bond. According to court documents he is scheduled to appear in court for an initial hearing today.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on Nov. 1 ISP detectives went to Carroll's residence and asked to speak with him inside. Carroll refused to let the detectives inside. But detectives could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the home.

When asked about the odor of marijuana, Carroll reportedly stated he had a joint in the residence. Carroll then denied consent to search the home so the troopers secured a search warrant.

During a search of the master bedroom police found 18.4 pounds of marijuana, drug paraphernalia used for the production and manufacturing of the drug and several controlled substances and a firearm.

The troopers says Carroll was proud of his marijuana operation and told police he had been growing marijuana for more than 15 years and grew it all for his personal use and to share a small amount with family members.
