(BEDFORD) - Bertha's Mission will once again be serving a Thanksgiving meal on Nov. 18 at First Baptist Church from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.

This year's meal could be their biggest yet, since Chris and Everett Ferrell will not be hosting a free Thanksgiving meal this year. After 13 years of serving the meal at the Mitchell Wesleyan Church, it has gotten to be too much for the couple. There were volunteers helping, but not enough to feed the more than 700 meals to Mitchell residents.

Janice Nickeo-Pendergrass, director of Bertha's Mission, will welcome those that volunteered in Mitchell with open arms. She needs volunteers and drivers to transport dinners or individuals wanting to attend the event and to help prepare and serve the meal at the church. Delivery and transportation is intended for the elderly, disabled or homebound.

She is wanting everyone needing a meal to come share in the delicious food, community fellowship and deep faith as they thank the Lord for his many blessings.

Performing during the dinner will be Zion's Joy!. The group is comprised of nine melodious voices whose mission is to sing and testify of God's goodness, mercy and salvation to all.

The line-up of Zion's Joy! includes sopranos Kay Insley and Lyn MacDonald-Sigman. Altos are Lynette Hiser, Karen Hall and Sharon Rimmer. Tenors include Jeffery Porter and Richard O. Jackson with Freddie Bolden and Robert W. Stevenson singing baritone and bass.

Zion's Joy! has taken their ministry to numerous churches and venues across Indiana as well as other cities throughout the United States.

With a blend of tight, rich harmonies, and powerful lead vocals, Zion's Joy! delivers a unique brand of old and new school gospel / contemporary Christian music. Indiana Gospel Music Association president Ken Gates describes their live ministry performance as "electric, moving, and a must see."

If you need a ride to the event call (317) 480-0085 or (812) 329-1100 or email berthasmission@gmail.com by 2 p.m. Nov. 15. Delivery is intended for the elderly, disabled or homebound.

To volunteer, call (317) 480-0085, (812) 329-1100 or email berthasmission@gmail.com.

Donations: Bring food donations for the dinner to Bertha's Mission, 512 Lincoln Ave. Suggested items include hams, turkey, potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, yellow self-rising cornmeal, stuffing, bread crumbs, cakes and pies and cranberry sauce. Also needed are large aluminum pans, Sterno fuel cans and three-section plastic foam plates.
