Bedford Man Arrested After Assaulting Woman

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after police say he slapped, hit and kicked a woman in front of children and held her against her will.

Lawrence County Police arrested 25-year-old Gregory Cabage of Bedford on charges of domestic battery in the presence of a minor, domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, intimidation with a deadly weapon, criminal confinement, strangulation, invasion of privacy. He also violated a no contact order that was issued out of Scott County.

On Tuesday, a woman came to the Sheriff's Department to report Cabage has slapped her in the face with an open hand in the presence of a 4-year-old and 1-year-old child.

The female attempted to leave the home and she says Cabage choked her and hit her in the face with his fist multiple times.

"As well as kicked her in the face at least once," says Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults. "At one point during the incident Mr. Cabage made threats to harm himself with a firearm and continued to prevent the victim from leaving the residence alone. The victim was eventually able to leave the residence and make a report."

The female suffered several noticeable bruises and contusions as well as redness and abrasions to different parts of her body.

Officers went to the home on Dixie Highway and arrested Cabage.
