Work On I-69 Section 5 Ramping Up Ahead Of Winter Weather

Last updated on Thursday, October 26, 2017

(BLOOMINGTON) - IINDOT alerts motorists that northbound State Road 37 has shifted to the far right from the Third Street interchange to the CSX railroad bridge.

The traffic shift is being implemented to accommodate paving operations, bridge deck sealing and work on the median drain inlets. The lane shift will be extended to the State Road 45/46 bypass over the next few weeks.

On or about Monday traffic on southbound State Road 37 will be shifted to the far right from the State Road 45/46 interchange to the 3rd Street interchange to accommodate paving operations, bridge deck sealing and work on the median drain inlets.

Also on or about Monday, the right lane of southbound State Road 37 at Tapp Road will be closed so crews can make shoulder improvements, complete work on the west Tapp Road ramps and do additional bridge work. The right lane closure will be in place for several weeks, weather permitting.

In the Chambers Pike area, Sparks Lane will be striped and open to traffic on or about Nov. 1, prior to closing Chambers Pike for the construction of the Chambers Pike overpass.

Sparks Lane will become the new east side access point to State Road 37 during the closure. At the same time, North Crossover Road will be closed for construction of the Chambers Pike overpass. South Crossover Road will be re-opened and become the new west side access point to State Road 37.

Motorists are urged to follow the posted 45 mph speed limit and be aware of changing traffic patterns throughout the I-69 Section 5 project limits.
