(BLOOMINGTON) - WFIU Public Radio and WTIU Public Television will host an open house Thursday, October 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Radio-TV Building on the Indiana University Bloomington campus (1229 E. 7 th St.).
The community is invited to this free event to get an insider's look at public broadcasting.
The theme of this year's open house is "A Celebration of Science" in honor of special guests Paula Apsell and
Doug Hamilton, who are producers of PBS's award-winning science series NOVA. Apsell and Hamilton will give a
special preview of upcoming stories on NOVA at 7 p.m. A Q&A with Apsell and Hamilton will immediately follow
their presentation.
Other highlights of the open house will include tours of the WFIU-WTIU broadcast facilities, the opportunity to
meet WFIU and WTIU personalities and learn about local programming, and light refreshments provided by Oliver
Winery and Terry's Banquets and Catering.
The night before the open house, the public is also invited to a panel discussion with Aspell and Hamilton on
"Climate Change in a Politically Charged Environment" October 11 at 6 p.m. in the Whittenberger Auditorium (900
E. 7 th St.). Apsell and Hamilton will be joined by moderator Fred Cate, Vice President for Research and
Distinguished Professor of Law at Indiana University, and panelists Lee Hamilton, former US Congressman from
Indiana and Distinguished Scholar at Indiana University, and Ellen Ketterson, Distinguished Professor of Biology
and Gender Studies at Indiana University. This free event is co-sponsored by WTIU and the IU Media School.

About Paula Apsell
Paula Apsell is the Senior Executive Producer of NOVA and NOVA scienceNOW and Director of WGBH's
Science Unit. As well as overseeing the production of NOVA documentaries and miniseries for television, Apsell
