Two Arrested After Police Find Drugs In Vehicle

(MITCHELL) - Two people were arrested after a Lawrence County deputy stopped their vehicle for speeding in the area of Bartlettsville and Elkins roads Monday night.

Police arrested 44-year-old Dusty Grubb of Heltonville on charges of possession of meth and maintaining a common nuisance and 19-year-old Ashlen Osborne of Smithville on charges of possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance

According to Lawrence County Police Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults, during the traffic stop at 11:41 p.m. the officer became suspicious of possible drug active and obtained permission to search the vehicle.

"The officer located a small corner baggie containing a residue that later tested positive for methamphetamine," Chief Deputy Shoults says. "Also inside the vehicle, the officer located two smoking devices commonly associated with drug use and both contained a residue that tested positive for methamphetamine."

Police also located pills which were Tramadol, Alprazolam, Hydrocodone and Xanax.

"All are controlled substances of which Ms. Osborne had no prescription for, " Chief Deputy Shoults added.

Both Grubb and Osborne were arrested and taken to the Lawrence County Jail.
