St. Vincent Salem and Purdue Extension Partner To Offer Dining With Diabetes

(SALEM) - St.Vincent Salem Hospital and Purdue Extension Lawrence County and Washington Counties will offer FREE Dining with Diabetes Diabetic Education and Cooking School on Wednesday mornings during the month of November.

This class will target persons with Type 2 Diabetes and/or their caregivers. It will focus on creating healthy meal plans and provide information and motivation to adopt positive lifestyle changes.

Did you know that almost 15 percent of adults in Lawrence County and almost 12 percent in Washington County have diabetes?

Adults with type 2 diabetes or who at risk for diabetes and their family members, caregivers, and support persons are welcome.

This program consists of four sessions and a follow-up session. Past Dining with Diabetes participants have said, "Get the word out about this program. This is a must for people with diabetes," and "Being able to taste the food and see how easily it was prepared, and then getting the recipes was great."

Topics covered

The Purdue Extension offices in Lawrence & Washington counties are partnering to offer this program on November 15, 22, 29, and December 6 from 10 a.m. - Noon at St. Vincent Salem Hospital (911 Shelby St, Salem, IN).

Class size is limited to 25 people from two counties
