St. Vincent Dunn To Host Dedication Today Of New Serenity Garden

Last updated on Wednesday, October 11, 2017

(BEDFORD) - St. Vincent Dunn Hospital will host a dedication of the new Serenity Garden located in the front of the hospital at 1600 23rd St. at 10:30 a.m. today.

The public is invited. The event will consist of a brief dedication ceremony, followed by refreshments.

The Serenity Garden is a mission project of Susan Scherschel and the St. Vincent Dunn Mission Team. The plan for the garden and construction were provided by Scott Gilstrap and his team at Creative Environments Inc. The garden features limestone pavers donated by Elliott Stone Co. and a large rock fountain. The boulder for the fountain was donated by Susan and Mark Scherschel.

The Serenity Garden provides an outdoor sanctuary for visitors and family members of patients, and is enhancing the environment of care for those who utilize St.Vincent Dunn. Several birds and an occasional rabbit have found sanctuary and a drink or bath in the fountain and garden.

St. Vincent Dunn Foundation assisted with funding for the project. Garden sponsorships are available. Sponsorship levels are: Orchid $250 or more; Rose $100 or more; Gardenia $50 or more; and Dahlia $25 or more. For more information about the garden and possibilities for future expansion, contact St. Vincent Dunn Foundation at (812) 276-1242.
