(SPRINGVILLE) - A Springville man was arrested after a domestic fight Saturday in the 1200 block of Popcorn Road.
Lawrence County Police arrested 45-year-old Scott McNeelan on a charge of domestic battery after police say he poured beer on a woman and shoved and hit her.
According to Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults, officers were called to the home at 5:37 p.m. and found McNeelan sitting on the front porch of the home. Officers found the female victim inside the home.
"Upon investigating officers found a verbal argument had taken place," says Chief Deputy Shoults. "The suspect (McNeelan) at one point poured beer on the victim and asked her to leave."
McNeelan then ripped a bag from the woman's shoulder with so much force that it broke the straps on the bag.
"The suspect (McNeelan) allegedly shoved the victim into a chest and hit her on the shoulder with an open hand causing pain," Chief Deputy Shoults added.
McNeelan was arrested on a charge of domestic battery and transported to the Lawrence County Jail.
