(UNDATED) - More and more children are in need as the opioid epidemic continues on in Indiana.
Open Arms Christian Ministries has been committed to serving neglected, abused, and troubled youth, by providing homes and education to those who need hope in a desperate time in their lives.
At this time there is not enough homes for the amount of children entering the system due to this opioid epidemic according to Sheila Corey, Director of Development and Community Relations at Open Arms Christian Ministries.
"Well a lot of these kids have PTSD, because of what they've gone through throughout their life. You know, the abuse, neglect and everything," said Corey.
In order to find these children safe spaces and beds, Open Arms Christian Ministries has developed the F.A.C.E. Program (Foster-Care, Awareness & Cultivating Excellent parents).
"Because there is an opioid epidemic, there's also an epidemic the need for foster homes. There's approximately 23,000 kids in Indiana that need a home," said Corey.
Corey continued, "You can make a lasting change just by having a a child in your home 3 days... 1 week... 6 months."
Open Arms Christian Ministries will be hosting a Festival of Trees where decorated trees and other Christmas decor will be auctioned off at Fountain Square Mall in Bloomington on Black Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
There will be other items auctioned off like a vacation package, Disney tickets and more.
