(MONTGOMERY) - A Montgomery man was injured when a van apparently hit a piece of farm equipment on Tuesday night.
The Daviess County Sheriff's Department got the call at 8:07 p.m. concerning the incident on County Road 650 East, just north of County Road 400 North near Montgomery.
Police arrived to find 23-year-old Randall Stoll on the ground and a van in a ditch.
According to police, Mathew Stoll was operating a tractor while his brother, Randall Stoll, was behind him on a piece of horse-drawn farm machinery.
Mathew Stoll said both were leaving the bean field for the night and pulled onto County Road 650 headed south when he saw an approaching vehicle but had time to get out on the road, but then heard a loud crash. He looked back and saw his brother Randall under the piece of farm machinery. He lifted it and held it off until some passers-by stopped to help.
Randall Stoll, who complained of pain and suffered a head injury, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was later flown to St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis.
Police say 73-year-old Emma Silcock of Elnora was traveling south on the county road in her 2009 Dodge Caravan and saw the headlights up ahead and believed it was an oncoming vehicle in the other lane. The next thing she knew is she hit something and ended up in the ditch. She was not injured.
