Lawrence County Police Officer Escapes Injury After Cruiser Collides With Deer

(BEDFORD) - A Lawrence County police officer escaped injury after his cruiser collided with a deer this morning on State Road 58 East.

According to police, 44-year-old Deputy Timothy Butcher was traveling east on State Road 58 East near Fellowship just after 2 a.m. when the deer ran from a corn field on the north side of the road into the path of the department's 2011 Chevrolet Caprice.

Butcher, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured during the incident. The vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage and was towed from the scene.
