(MEDORA) - The Eighth Annual Hope Medora Goes Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Event is Oct. 14th. HOPE has given $67,600 to those affected by all types of cancer that live in Medora and the surrounding counties.

The event will raise funds to purchase gas cards, groceries and provide help in other ways for those who are battling the deadly disease.

"100 percent of the money collected will be given to those affected by ALL TYPES of cancer who live in Indiana and other states," Organizer Debra Wayman says.

The 1st annual HOPE Medora Goes Pink Parade will step-off at 3 p.m. with grand marshals 71-year-old John Hughes and Kinley Lynn Tormoehlen, daughter of Shane and Katie Tormoehlen. Kinley was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer when she was 11-months-old. On Oct. 14th, the day of the parade, Kinley will be 17-months-old.

Hughes has been fighting cancer from the age of 17. John has suffers from 7 different cancers with 8 cancer occurrences.

"This shows cancer affects the young and old and all ages between," says Wayman.
