(BLOOMINGTON) - The City of Bloomington’s Council for Community Accessibility (CCA) will host its annual celebration from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, October 30, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church (100 N. State Road 45/46).
Free and open to the public, the celebration recognizes individuals and groups that make our community a better place for people with disabilities.
The program will include brief remarks by Mayor John Hamilton as well as food, a keynote speaker, live music, advocacy story-sharing, and more.
Rylin Rodgers will present the keynote address at CCA's annual celebration. Rodgers has wide-ranging experience as a leader at the local, state, and national levels in subjects related to policy, systems, and services for children and youth who have special health care needs. She is sought after as a presenter, trainer, consultant and author on topics including special education regulations, public and private health care financing, and family/professional partnerships. However, it is Rodger's role as mother that has led her to dedicate her personal and professional efforts to impacting the systems that serve families who are raising children with disabilities and/or special health care needs. Rodger's personal and professional experiences provide a unique perspective in translating the impact of policy and systems issues on the "end users," both informing policymakers and practitioners while ensuring families understand how to access the services that touch their lives. Rodgers' current roles include Training Director and Family Leadership Coordinator for the Riley Child Development Center; Director of Care Coordination Projects of pediatrics at the IU School of Medicine; and founding director of Family Voices Indiana. She resides in rural Boone County, Indiana, with her husband and their two children.
