Bloomington Animal Shelter Celebrates Adopt-a-Dog Month With Special Events

(BLOOMINGTON) - In recognition of national Adopt-A-Dog Month, the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter is promoting dog adoptions with a “Peace, Love and Dogs” theme that includes reduced adoption fees and several special events.

During the month of October, dog adoption fees will be reduced to $20 for dogs aged five years and older and $40 for dogs under five years old. Normal adoption fees are $55 for dogs five years and older and $75 for those younger than five years. All adopted dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, and spayed or neutered.

Adoptable dogs will make appearances at the following events during the month of October:



Staff from the Bloomington Animal Shelter will also be on hand most Saturdays at the Bloomington Community Farmers' Market from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m., pending inclement weather.

In addition to these events, the public is invited to visit adoptable animals at the Bloomington Animal Shelter on Mondays, Wednesday, Thursdays, and Saturdays from Noon - 5 p.m., on Tuesdays and Fridays from Noon - 7 p.m., and on Sundays from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
