Birdseye Man Arrested In Arson Of Historic Koerner Building

(BIRDSEYE) - Indiana State Police arrested 36-year-old Adam Hensley, for setting a fire that destroyed the historic Koerner building in Birdseye.

Monday afternoon, Detective Brock Werne was investigating a complaint of residential entry and theft in the Birdseye area that lead him to information that Hensley may have started the fire. Hensley was later arrested on a charge of residential entry and criminal mischief and transported to the Dubois County Security Center.

The State Fire Marshall's Office was at the scene of the fire and says the fire was maliciously set and were looking for Hensley as a possible suspect.

Hensley was then charged with arson based on additional information found by the fire marshal.

According to police, Hensley set the fire to the Koerner Block building escaped and had a witness on-scene dial 911 and report the fire.
