WestGate@Crane College Fair Scholarship Funds Increase, Allow For More Opportunities For Area Students

Last updated on Thursday, September 28, 2017

(WestGate@Crane) - As WestGate Academy celebrates its fifth anniversary, total WestGate@Crane College Fair scholarship funds increased this year from $3,000 to $3,500. In conjunction with the 5th Annual WestGate@Crane College Fair, where it is anticipated that more than 30 colleges and universities will be in attendance, several scholarships are awarded to winning high school seniors each year. The college fair will be taking place Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at WestGate Academy Conferencing & Training Center.

Scholarship funds are raised every year through the annual Running for Our Future 5K. The race, that took place June 10, 2017, exceeded fundraising goals. Event Organizer Alexandria Hancock was thrilled with the results.

"We were so excited after the race this past summer. We had more sponsors than ever before. Due to their generosity, we're fortunate to be able to provide more funds to high school seniors as they plan to further their education."

As the event center in Indiana's only tri-county technology park, this college fair is centrally located to more than fifteen high schools in Daviess, Greene, and Martin counties. Many students, including homeschooled students, come from outside the tri-county area as well.

Battery Innovation Center (BIC) Acting President Ben Wrightsman says this is the perfect time for students to gather information from several colleges and universities.

"The WestGate@Crane College Fair is a great opportunity for the students in this region. They get the chance to talk to a variety colleges and universities so they can make informed decisions on how to further their education."

Battery Innovation Center, STIMULUS Engineering, and WestGate staff support the Running for Our Future 5K and WestGate@Crane College Fair. The WestGate@Crane College Fair is certified by the Indiana Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC). Having this certification means the WestGate@Crane College Fair is dedicated to providing students access to accurate information.

It is completely free of charge for students to attend the fair. Students register online: www.gotocollegefairs.com. It is $50 per booth for colleges and universities to attend and register here: bit.ly/WGCollegeFair17
