Special Caucus To Be Held Sept. 17 To Fill Mitchell City Council Seat

(MITCHELL) - The Lawrence County Democratic Central Committee will hold a special caucus Wednesday, Sept. 27 to fill the vacancy on the Mitchell City Council created with the death of William "Bill" Arnold on Aug. 29.

Arnold represented the at-large seat on the council, meaning any Democrat in good standing who lives inside the city limits of Mitchell may apply to hold the seat.

The caucus will be at 6 p.m. at Mitchell City Hall, 407 S. Sixth St.

Interested candidates must file a notarized declaration of candidacy (State Form CEB-5 found on the Secretary of State website at and at the Lawrence County Voter Registration Office) and letter of interest to Chairman Matthew Ray no later than 72 hours before the caucus.

Candidacy forms may be notarized at the Lawrence County Voter Registration Office. No candidacy forms will be accepted after the deadline.

All forms are available upon request or on the party Facebook page, Indiana Secretary of State website and at the Lawrence County Voter Registration Office.
