(SEYMOUR) - A Seymour woman already facing perjury, welfare fraud and theft charges from an investigation in 2016 was arrested Sunday on similar charges involving three new investigations.

Jackson County Police arrested 51-year-old Teresa Cantu on new charges of perjury and welfare fraud after she failed to report all her sources of income and property when applying for public assistance to pay for a utility bill in August.

She is also facing felony charges of insurance fraud, fraud and theft after police say Cantu received a settlement check from an insurance company from a crash she had been involved in but submitted false information to the insurance company from her former place of employment an attorney's office in Seymour.

She is also facing a felony charge of fraud on a financial institution after police say she submitted false information on an application to have her Seymour home refinanced through a mortgage company.

Cantu was first arrested in August 2016 after an investigation by the Social Security Administration on charges of welfare fraud ad perjury. According to Jackson Circuit Court records Cantu entered a plea agreement in which she plead guilty to perjury on Monday and will be sentenced on Oct. 13 at 1:30 p.m. Cantu had sold two vehicles to auto dealerships for a total of $18,500 and failed to report that income when she applied for public assistance on at least three occasions. She was also receiving $200 a week in child support from her ex-husband and didn't report that income.

Overall investigation say Cantu received $6,526.47 in public assistance.

The new charges stem from an investigation that shows Cantu and her two children were overpaid about $18,195 in Social Security benefits because she under-reported her income in December 2013, February 2014, June to December 2015 and into January 2016.
