(DUBOIS CO.) - A man who admitted to murdering a St. Henry man was sentenced to 86 years in prison on Friday.
According to court records, 26-year-old Kyle Popplewell was sentenced to 65 years for the murder of Jeffrey Perry; six years for the Level 5 felony count of criminal confinement; and 15 years on the Level 3 felony count of aggravated battery. Those sentences will run consecutively for a total sentence of 86 years at the Indiana Department of Corrections.
On January 10, 2016 Popplewell entered the home of 37-year-old Jeffrey Perry, located east of St. Henry.
Police say Popplewell stabbed Perry as he slept on a couch. Perry died from his injuries.
Popplewell then slashed Perry's girlfriend who attempted to stop him from injuring Perry.
Popplewell then barricaded himself in a bedroom of the home with Perry's adult foster daughter who was staying at the home. While barricaded in the room, he allegedly raped the woman multiple times during a three-hour police standoff. He then surrendered to police.
