Last updated on Thursday, September 21, 2017

(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in solving a burglary case.

The burglary was reported Tuesday at a home on Stumphole Bridge Road.

Police say several thousand dollars worth of items were stolen from the home including pistols, shotguns, high-powered rifles, a portable welder and cash.

It appears the suspect or suspects entered the home through an unlocked window.

Based on statements from the homeowner, the crime happened sometime between 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17th and 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18th.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Tyler Phillips or Detective Riley Hitchcock at (812) 277-2012. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can leave a message on the Lawrence County Police Department tip line at (812) 277-2020. All tips can be helpful, so don't hesitate to speak up.

Police would like to remind residents to make sure their windows and doors are locked when leaving your home. This can be a deterrent to would-be thieves and may assist in preventing future break-ins.
