(PAOLI) - The Orange County Historical Society will host an Open House type event at the Museum in Paoli this Sunday, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.
OCHS President Robert Henderson said the Museum which has been closed for the past several months for some much needed renovation efforts will be open for anyone interested in visiting and viewing some of the updated exhibit areas.
Henderson noted that many of the display items museum collection have been either changed out or freshened up this summer by a small but dedicated group of volunteers.
"In an effort to better preserve some of the more fragile type items in the collection a number of artifacts have also been removed for the time being or rotated in the collection. Many of these items have been on display 24/7 for decades now and are deserving of a "rest" so hopefully they can be preserved for future generations" He added.
Some of the permanent exhibit areas upstairs such as the vintage School Room and Old Time Farm Implements and Tool Collection have also been redressed. Updates are planned soon for the Doctor's Office and a new exhibit area has been created in the back room area with period bedroom type furnishings.
"We still have a number of projects on our "To Do List" and those will be on-going by some of our volunteers through the remainder of the year." Henderson said. "So some things will not be completely finished for the Open House."
Most of the interior rooms and stairwell received a fresh coat of paint and new window treatments and some minor improvements for the exterior areas is also planned.
The Museum will also be in open for the Paoli Merchants Christmas Open House on November 19th. Although the Museum is normally shuttered after that event for the winter months it will be still be open to visitors and/or small groups by appointment only through spring, 2018.
