INDOT I-69 Section 5 Project On Schedule For Completion In 2018

Last updated on Tuesday, September 26, 2017

(BLOOMINGTON) - The Indiana Department of Transportation is still targeting Aug. 31, 2018 as the date of substantial completion for the Interstate 69 Section 5 project, if the weather cooperates.

Section 5 will upgrade 21 miles of State Road 37 from Rockport Road in Monroe County to the Indian Creek bridge in Morgan County.

The state agency says work progressing at a faster pace now that it is being overseen by a private development company and the two main projects contractors Force Construction and Crider & Crider crews are working around the clock. INDOT says about 50 percent of construction and 90 percent of design work has been completed.

INDOT is also working to reduce disruptions to drivers when big events are expected to increase traffic through the construction zone, such as Indiana University's homecoming football game against the University of Michigan on Oct. 14. During the event work schedules will be modified.
