(BLOOMINGTON) - Former IU football running back 22-year-old Camion Patrick was arrested at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday in Bloomington in connection with a murder near his hometown in East Tennessee.

A warrant was issued for his arrest on Tuesday, Sept. 12th.

He was arrested by Indiana University police without incident and is being held in the Monroe County Correctional Facility. Patrick appeared in Monroe County Court Thursday afternoon and waived his right to an extradition hearing.

Patrick is accused of stabbing to death 18-year-old Caleb Thomas Radford, of Maryville, Tennessee, on July 25, in Alcoa, Tennessee. Radford was found about 10:42 p.m. on Topside Road at Buck Drive. He had been stabbed multiple times.

On Aug. 3, the Alcoa Police Department announced three other men were charged with criminal homicide in connection with the slaying. Police Chief David Carswell said Patrick's brother, 20-year-old Isaiah Wright, 21-year-old Keshawn Lonnell Hopewell, of Alcoa, and 28-year-old Itiq Tivone Green, of Louisville are being held on $1 million bond each.

Carswell then said, "the men responsible for Radford's death are now in custody."

According to police, Patrick visited a pawnshop with Hopewell and took something out of pawn belonging to Patrick, using money taken from Radford.

IU Coach Tom Allen says Patrick was granted a medical hardship waiver and left the football team on July 24, just one day before Radford's murder, effectively ending his collegiate football career.

The former JUCO star signed with Kevin Wilson in early 2015, but was academically ineligible for his initial season. After a redshirt year where Wilson dubbed him "Indiana's best player" in practice, Patrick seemed poised for a breakout 2016 but tore his ACL in spring practice. He returned to play five games for the Hoosiers last season, registering 6 catches and 154 yards total for the season.
