(BLOOMINGTON) - Eagle Pointe Golf Resort is now open to golfers, but the pro shop, bar and dining facilities remain closed.

The business was closed on August 30th after being cited on two tax code violations. The Department of Revenue is prohibiting the business from conducting retail sales. Golfing fees can be collected, because those fees are not taxed, according to the Indiana Department of Revenue.

Monroe County Sheriff Brad Swain assisted the Department of Revenue last week, placing signs at both entrances to the resort notifying customers to the restrictions.

However The Herald Times obtained two receipts from a customer showing the business was in violation of that order. The receipts show purchases were made on Sept. 3 after Eagle Pointe was restricted by the Department of Revenue to make any retail sales.

The Herald Times reports, owner Doug Thomas was arrested Friday by Monroe County Sheriff deputies on a warrant out of Boone County for failure to appear in court on August 30th. On Monday, he was transported to the Boone County Jail where he posted a $500 bond and was released.
