"Becky's Place helped her pay for the first year of her rent and when she moved out into her own home, since then she is the first and only resident who pay that money forward," Hayes added. "Thelma passed away in May of this year and Becky's Place was there for her family every step of the way."

"This list could go on and on."

Becky's Place is always looking for volunteers our next volunteer meeting will be October 16th at the shelter at 7 p.m.

"This is a great opportunity for people who may be interested or would like to know a little bit more before actually becoming a volunteer," Hayes says.

The shelter is always in need of donations - toiletries, cleaning supplies, trash bags, any hygiene products, towels and twin size bedding.

"We are always encouraging gift cards as well because of having residents that come in that are needing something specific and we can use gift cards throughout the whole year. Gift cards for Walmart, JayC Plus or gas cards."

Becky's Place volunteers will be conducting a roadblock September 30th at Hoosier Hills Credit Union in Oolitic parking lot.

And reminders when you buy a piece of pie at Papa's restaurant every Thursday all proceeds go to Becky's Place.
