Daviess County Chief Deputy Gary Allison Will Seek Republican Nomination For Sheriff

(DAVIESS CO.) - Daviess County Chief Deputy Sheriff Gary Allison announced he will seek the Republican nomination for Daviess County Sheriff in the May 2018 primary election.

Allison has served more than 30 years with the Daviess County Sheriff's Department.

Current Sheriff Jerry Harbstreit is wrapping up his second term in office and is unable to seek re-election under state law.

Allison joined the sheriff's department in 1987 as a jailer and dispatcher. He was appointed a full-time deputy in 1993, and was later appointed as a detective in 1998. He has graduated from the Indiana Law enforcement Academy and the Drug Enforcement Agency's clandestine lab school. Over the last five years he has served as chief deputy.

Allison is a Washington native who was graduated from Washington High School and Vincennes University. He has served on several committees, including the Indiana Sheriff's Association Scholarship Committee, as a member of the Purdue Extension Board and on the Child Protective Services Review Committee.
