City Of Bloomington Seeking Nominations For 2017 SWAGGER Awards

(BLOOMINGTON) - The City of Bloomington Commission on the Status of Children and Youth is seeking nominations for the 2017 SWAGGER (Students Who Act Generously, Grow, and Earn Respect) awards.

Nominate a student who shows commitment to certain causes or displays actions that have improved their lives and/or the lives of others around them. Educators, clergy, friends, neighbors, relatives and others can nominate a student who lives or attends school within the geographical boundaries of the Monroe County Community School Corporation.

Previous SWAGGER Award recipients include a Girls Inc. member who donated toys and clothing to Girls Inc.; a National Junior Honor Society Leadership Council member who supported non-profits by making and donating fleece blankets; a student who tutored other students wrestling with challenges in their studies; and a Prism Youth Community member who showed an incredible commitment to the LGBTQ+ youth community through efforts to educate peers on issues relating to LGBTQ+ youth.

Nominations will be accepted from September 11 to October 16. Nomination forms are available online or at the City of Bloomington Community and Family Resources Department in City Hall (401 N. Morton Street, Suite 260), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Bloomington Mayor Hamilton will present the SWAGGER awards on November 14.

The mission of the City of Bloomington Commission on the Status of Children and Youth is to promote connections in our community which empower, enhance, and nurture children and youth.
