(BLOOMINGTON) - There were 13 hate incidents in Bloomington during the past year, according to the Bloomington Human Rights Commission annual report.
Those numbers are in line with recent years.
Officials looked at incidents from July 1, 2016 - August 25, 2017.
There were no major trends or differences in the incidents compared to the last three years.
Most incidents were motivated by bias on the basis of race, religion, sex, disability, gender identity or sexual orientation.
Incidents included fliers from white nationalist groups posted on the Indiana University campus, derogatory vandalism - swastikas painted on the B-Line Trail, intimidating messages painted on the Monroe County Democratic Party headquarters and slurs yelled from moving vehicles and punches thrown after racial slurs were used.
Indiana is one of just five states without a hate crime law.
