Last updated on Monday, August 21, 2017

(CUZCO) - A Shoals man was injured in an accident near Cuzco on Thursday night.

Dubois Sheriff deputies believe alcohol was involved and charges may be filed at a later date.

The crash was reported at 8:44 p.m. just west of Cuzco Road on State Road 56.

The driver, 38-year-old Kaleb Connell of Shoals, was outside of his 2003 Subaru when police arrived at the scene. Connell told police he was traveling west on State Road 56 when he had to swerve to miss a deer.

According to police, the car spun 180 degrees, traveled off the south side of the road and struck a state highway sign and came to rest on its top in a corn field. Police say Connell was ejected from the vehicle during the incident.

Connell was transported by ambulance to Memorial Hospital.

The accident remains under investigation.
