Seymour School Placed On Lock-Down While Police Search For Suicidal Man

Last updated on Monday, August 21, 2017

(SEYMOUR) - Jackson Elementary School in Seymour was placed on lock-down for a couple of hours Thursday after a man, who police say was believed to be armed and possibly suicidal, was in the area.

Seymour Police say that the man evaded them by ducking into a cornfield near Freeman Field.

Authorities stressed that the man was not near the school, but he was close enough that school officials decided to take action.

The manhunt was resolved peacefully around 3 p.m.

Some school activities were postponed due to the search.

The identity of the man has not been released.
