(BLOOMINGTON) - The Monroe County Sheriff's Department and Indiana Department of Revenue closed Eagle Pointe restaurant, pro shop, and bar Wednesday afternoon for non payment of unpaid employee income tax withholding and sales tax.

Officials say that the closure will remain in effect until payments are remedied.

Sheriff Brad Swain and deputies were at the business near Lake Monroe at 11 a.m. Wednesday. An orange Indiana Department of Revenue warning sign was posted on the door, citing it was in violation of Indiana Code and that the business is committing a Class A Misdemeanor.

Sheriff Swain says Eagle Pointe failed to comply with an agreed upon payment plan for unpaid employee payroll taxes and collected sales taxes.

The closure affects the golf course, the pro shop, the bar and dining facilities, according to the release.

This incident is related to the same issue back in May when the business was shut down. Owner Doug Thomas said then the issue stemmed from Pointe Properties LLC, and Eagle Pointe's former owner, TRML Eagle Pointe LLC, filing tax reports for the same business during the same time period, before the sale was finalized last year. Thomas said Pointe Properties LLC purchased the business in December and began managing it before the sale was completed.

But Sheriff Swain says that is not correct, the reason for the closure in May was for nonpayment of payroll withholding, and sales tax receipts.
