Mitchell Police Looking For Robbery Suspect - Schools Were Locked Down

(MITCHELL) - Mitchell Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the man who robbed an Amish woman late Wednesday morning.

Police were called to northeast corner of Four Points at the intersection of Main Street and Teke Burton Drive at 11:51 a.m. by an off-duty police officer had stopped to buy produce from an Amish woman and she told him what happened.

The woman told police a man approached her, displayed a gun and demanded her money. The woman handed the man her cash box and he fled east toward the JayC store.

Officers are unsure at the exact time the robbery happened, but they are reviewing video footage from the area.

The man is of medium build and between the ages of 30 and 40 years old. The woman, who was visibly shaken, was focused on the gun and couldn't give police a good description of the man.

Because of the incident Mitchell Schools were put on a "soft lockdown" was due to a possible safety threat in the community. The lockdown was lifted at 1:45 p.m.
