(PATOKA LAKE) - On Monday, August 21st bring your kayak and join the Naturalist for a water view of the total solar eclipse as the moon passes in front of the sun.

Our area will experience nearly 98 percent darkness for approximately 2.5 minutes with partial eclipse beginning around 12:56 p.m.

This unique opportunity will not happen again in our lifetime.

The tour will start at 12:30 p.m. and end around 3 p.m.

Bring life jackets and preferred snacks or refreshments. Be sure to bring binoculars to observe the reactions of area wildlife to this occurrence.

Special solar glasses will be provided to the first 20 participants.

Meet at South Lick Fork Boat Ramp off Highway 164 no later than 12:15p.m. to register. Night boating laws will be followed so be sure to bring a headlamp or flashlight that can be attached to the front of your boat. Non-motorized launch permits are required and will be sold at the ramp for $5.

For more information regarding this program or other interpretive events, please call the Nature Center at (812) 685-2447.
